Wolkenpark brings together musicians from both German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, with Christoph Flueler (trumpet & effects), Julien Boss (Rhodes, synth & effects), Jean-Pierre Schaller (electric bass & effects), and Johan Wermeille (drums) merging generations and musical styles. Since 2018, the four musicians have been blending modern club styles, hip-hop, ambient, chillout, house, and drum'n'bass into their own compositions, creating a unique sound they call «New Urban Deep Jazz». Using synthesizers, loopers, and effects, they generate an electronic hyperspace where their acoustic instruments expand into an orchestral dimension.
Each of the four members is an established figure as a studio musician and sideman. In Wolkenpark, they combine their shared experience from hundreds of gigs in diverse line-ups since the early 1980s, along with dozens of studio sessions for European jazz and pop productions, as well as film and TV series—now in their own band: Wolkenpark.
"«This damn track is absolutely surgical. They don’t take up too much space with their in- dividual parts, and they leave plenty of room for composition to grow.» (Phantom Power Music Blog)
«Through the inclusion of delightful basslines and a soothing trumpet at the helm, the musicians give us a breathtaking performance worth hearing on repeat.» «“Move on for Real” is jazz drumming at its peak. There’s so much work going on in this piece that will absolutely dazzle an audience. Kinda wish I saw the live performance! Especially the ending solos where the drummer goes full beast mode.» (Illustrate Magazine)
«L’énergie dégagée par ce groupe Suisse est contagieuse. Attention!» (Couleurs Jazz)
«That is the power of jazz music, connecting people, cheering people, and also inspiring people. This debut feature shows how much potential this quartet has, leaving us hungry for more.» (Illustrate Magazine)
«After teaming up with Rootwords, Wolkenpark combines spoken-word rap with their fusion big band sound for the thought-provoking yet highly infectious single ‘Move on for Real’. The interplay between the jazzy vibes of the melody and the spoken-word rap brings a unique texture to the single that makes it highly enjoyable. The artists have taken the best elements of their sounds and fused them perfectly.» (The Other Side Review)
«Grâce à une énergie contagieuse qui vous happe dès les premières mesures, le groupe suisses s’impose avec une facilité déconcertante.» (Info Musique)" – More: http://www.wolkenpark.com/blogpage
