corpus absens is a project by Swiss musician Tom von Bueren, born in 1970. A dedicated music fan from an early age, he experimented with several instruments before discovering the guitar at 14. Influenced by artists such as the Beatles, Krokus, Mike Oldfield, and Judas Priest, he began writing and recording his own material, producing two demo tapes as a teenager.
While these early recordings were never performed live, he continued to play in bands over the years. Making a living from music was never a realistic option, so he pursued a professional career while music remained a constant companion. He recorded songs using guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums, largely in private.
At 47, he began taking vocal lessons despite never being fully satisfied with his voice. In 2019, he released his first official publication, Victim, on streaming platforms. Commercial success was limited, but the release marked an important personal milestone. Songwriting continues alongside work and family life, with new releases planned for 2026.
