John Schroter
John Schroter is a pianist and composer whose music reflects a lifelong relationship with the piano and the sensibility of a seasoned film artist - someone who has spent 30 years shaping rhythm, tone, and emotion through editing, color, and finishing.
As a teenager, he studied intensively with Cuban-born concert pianist Dr. Martha Marchena before continuing as a music major at Messiah College, now Messiah University, where he studied piano, voice, theory, and composition. He later shifted his focus to film and post-production, building a career as an editor, colorist, finishing artist, and studio owner while continuing to play and write.
His music centers on space, restraint, melodic simplicity, and emotional clarity. Drawing from classical study, quiet piano traditions, worship music, family, faith, and cinematic storytelling, Schroter favors natural dynamics, intimate performances, and the sound of a real piano in a real room.
His upcoming EP, Full Circle, continues that thread with felted works inspired by family, legacy, and the arrival of his first grandson.
