Kolbak
At the end of a farm path ‘tween Uithoorn and Amstelveen one finds KOLBAKs lair. Here, Harold Pflug (vocals, guitar), Ronald van der Vaart (bass, vocals) and Martin Voigt (drums, vocals) compose, polish, tweak and craft their songs.
KOLBAK’s songs have a distinct melodic and lyrical ring with subtle or a brutal twist: intelligent, but unconstrained. The lyrics reflect either the band’s amazement concerning certain aspects in society or hail the unconditional surrender to love. The amount of energy they put into song craft transcends into their live performances.
Their most recent album “To The Teeth” (2022) was recorded by Jan Schenk at Studio Schenk. For 2024, they are releasing a bunch of singles. The first two -- Play Time and Smoke and Mirrors -- are out now!
“To The Teeth” is KOLBAK’s third album. It spawned two IndieXL Free40 top 10 singles “Off Day” (#4) and title track “To The Teeth” (#7) as well as the meandering lullaby “Up For Air”.
Previously, they self-released the EP’s “Twist And Turns” (2019) en “Sea” (2016)
