Tibor Varga

Tibor Varga, internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor, may be considered as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. Among others, Edvard Mirzoyan, the then most important living Armenian-Soviet composer, after attending one of the concerts, where Tibor Varga conducted Stravinsky´s “Firebird”, overwhelmed wrote the following lines to him: 
“[…] I would like to share with you the extraordinary impression that the concert you conducted on October 30 left on me.
You have seen for yourself the enthusiasm and joy with which you were received as a conductor. […] But the most important and most impressive thing for me was the understanding and sensitivity for Stravinsky’s work that you have transmitted to the orchestra. […] I have heard this work several times, but the enrichment that I felt when I heard it under your direction will remain unforgettable to me. 
I knew Stravinsky personally very well […]. When I listened to your interpretation of the Firebird, I felt his music very close again, and in this music I saw, I heard Stravinsky. Thank you for that, my dear friend. Bravo.
