baroque luteThe "Timless Lute" album - an unprecedented work of the Polish lutenist Anna Wiktoria Swoboda, introduces listeners to the little-known world of this timeless instrument. The lute, very popular in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, fell out of use in the second half of the 18th century, and in the 20th century - on the wave of interest in early music and historical instruments - it began to arouse interest again. In addition to the excellent Sonata by Silvius Leopold Weiss - born in Silesia, one of the most outstanding (and best paid) lutenists of the 18th century, the court musician of August II and August III - the album includes for the first time the Suite "Le Parnasse Silesienne" composed in tribute to Weiss by the titled composer - guitarist Marek Pasieczny. It is an energetic and sometimes subversive composition, boldly introducing modern elements to the lute playing technique: harmonics, rasguedos, extended harmonics. Anna Wiktoria Swoboda leads us from the Baroque to the present day (fascinated by old eras), and ends this journey with a moving instrumental aria by Johann Sebastian Bach - here in the lute version.Visit
